Air source heat pumps work by taking the heat from the air outside your home and transferring this to the inside. The heat can then be distributed through a number of differing methods, these include:
• Underfloor heating
• Hot water
• Warm air convectors
Air source heat pumps use similar technology to Air Conditioning systems to convert the low grade heat (as low as -25C) in the air and convert it to warm air/water (up to 60C). The system is more eco-friendly than traditional heating systems as it is able to harvest energy from a renewable Click tsource. Although air source heat pumps use electricity, they can return as much as 3kW for each kW used, making the systems an efficient way to heat your house the whole year round.
Is an Air Source Heat pump system for me?
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing this type of system:
What type of heating do you currently have? Greater savings can be made if you are relying electricity, heating oil, LPG or coal. Using Air Source Heat pumps cuts the cost heating your house by using less electricity and removing the cost of your current fuel type. However if you have mains gas to your house the saving is likely to be less.
Are you looking to heat a New Build? If you are looking for a way to heat your new home it costs less to install a system as the home is built rather than to redevelop. Air source heat pumps work well with underfloor heating and larger radiators.
Do you have space for it? Do you have the room outside for outdoor unit? This resembles and air conditioning unit.
